Create a College Transition Plan

After committing, your next step is planning your academic, financial, and personal transition to your new institution. 

In this module, you’ll create a personalized transition plan for your new campus. You’ll prepare for orientation and academic advising, plan for housing and transportation, and outline strategies for wellness and time management.

How to complete this milestone

  1. Register for orientation and/or an  advising appointment at your new campus.
  2. Plan for housing and transportation needs.
  3. Identify at least two wellness strategies you’ll use to manage stress and workload.
  4. Write down important deadlines and dates (orientation, move-in, tuition due, etc.).
Resources

Once you’ve reviewed all your admission decisions and committed to a 4-year university, make sure you have: 

  • Registered for orientation
  • Learned how to make an advising appointment with your major department's advisors.
  • Developed a transition plan (housing, transportation, etc.)
  • Listed resources for transfer success (transition programs, mentorship,  etc)
  • Listed resources for academic success (tutoring services, library resources, etc)
  • Listed basic needs resources (Cal Fresh, food pantry, etc)
